[Update] iTunes 10.2.1 Released–Safe for Jailbreakers

Update 1: Just synced my iPhone (4.2.1) with iTunes, it’s jailbreak safe.

iTunes 10.2.1 just dropped via Software Update, hot on the heels of 10.2 which was available six days ago. It can be downloaded here. This latest update to iTunes could support earlier rumours of iOS 4.3 is coming tomorrow, instead of Friday.

What’s new in iTunes 10.2.1

• Sync with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 4.3.

• Improved Home Sharing. Browse and play from your iTunes libraries with Home Sharing on any iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 4.3.

Hopefully it fixes the dreaded “Preparing to Sync” issue that thousands of people have been experiencing when trying to sync photos to their iPhone and iPad!!!

Fails to install on Windows 7, as usual. I always end up doing a complete remove, deleting all associated directories yadayada…. Sigh.

You should probably reinstall Windows 7 if that’s happening. Clearly something wrong with the file system/registry. I’ve ne’er had any issues with Windows 7 and iTunes here.

So this homesharing confuses me slightly. I have iOS 4.3 GM with iPhone 4. I don’t have an apple tv and I have a desktop with Windows 7 and a laptop with Vista. While on a wifi connection between all devices (no Internet just local) I can get the library sharing on my iPhone but I can detect only one at a time. Both computers come up as the same library (one computer must be disconnected while the other is connected). I have different music on my laptop because too I’m lazy to transfer more. I can push my music playing on my iphone to the laptop speakers via bluetooth with air play. Neither computer detects the other’s library nor my iphone’s library. I’m assuming the iPhone can’t receive video via air play nor can it push content to a pc (as mentioned above I lack an Apple TV). Apple doesn’t support DLNA so pushing content to my wifi enabled tv is out too.
Also if I use the personal hotspot I cannot get anything from either computer.
So, as far as I can tell, I can only receive one library at a time (or I have to somehow change the name of thee library on one of my PCs); I can not use the personal hotspot (wifi) for homesharing; I cannot share my iPhone library (music or video) to a pc.
I tried using personal hotspot with a friend’s iPhone 4 and it didn’t work for sharing either.

So, what the heck is Air Play supposed to do? I know the Apple TV bit and those Air Play music docks but, other than that, what does it do?

Thanks and sorry for such a long post and likely in the wrong setting.
