Griffin PowerJolt SE For iPod, iPhone

Share:

If you are looking for power on-the-go, especially on road trips, check out the new PowerJolt SE from Griffin.

PowerJolt SE by Griffin

The new PowerJolt SE is a car charger for your iPhone, iPad or iPod. The charging accessory conveniently comes in one piece, with a dock connector on one end and a DC output on the other end. The two ends are connected by a 23-inch (stretched) cable.

The charger is a 12-volt adapter and 2.1 amp charging circuit, so every iDevice can be charged quickly and safely. Once a device is charging, an LED ring glows (amber/green) on the DC output to indicate the level of charge.

The accessory further features a built-in “SmartFuse” circuit breaker for added protection and durability.

The accessory is very clean and provides a hassle-free charging connection to your iDevice. There are no buttons on the charger, so users simply push the dock connector end into the iDevice and withdraw the charger after use.

The DC output end is also very discrete and is almost hidden away when plugged in to a vehicle DC plug.

The Griffin PowerJolt SE is available for $24.99 USD from the Griffin online store. The accessory may also be available at your local electronic store and/or Apple Store.

  • No offence guys, but is it possible to limit my RSS feed to only carrier-related posts? I follow this blog to get updates on iPhone in Canada stuff, I don't really have any interest in the other stuff.

I have replaced *5* of these units for blowing up in 4 different cars, stay the hell away!!

    Haha, horrible resources!

there's been alot of “Paid Advertisements” lately… I started watching this forum daily when the iphone 4 was announced in the USA… but these advertisements are getting a little annoying, not that i mind if they're good products. Maybe ill start checking back weekly.

I actually go one of these for Christmas (or at least it looks the same and is a Griffin charger as well.) Has worked great for me. I don't understand how it has blown up five times for Sgtboy (knock on wood.) Originally I used it on my 3G and now on my 4. No complaints to be made about it really. Would like a longer cord at times but really not that bad. My DC plug is at the bottom of my shifter on the center console and it's long enough for when I have my iPhone4 mounted to the windshield.

I'm also a huge fan of the site, but I have to agree that a lot of articles seem like blatant advertisements recently. For example, this article does nothing to test the product — all it does is repeat information from the product's website. The whole thing reads out like a commercial as well. I understand if your site needs financial support for you to deliver your content, but don't try to disguise it as an article. Thanks for reading the feedback.

But if we gave it away, would you still say this?

    We receive no financial support.

Ex, Gary, and whomever else may have an iphone 4, I have a couple of concerns that if possible to be answered, would be greatly appreciated.

When you guys disable 3G and then enable it again does it switch automatically back to 3G or stay on Edge? Mine always stays at Edge and I am thinking if this is a problem with all the phones or just a problem with mine.

Also, does the phone lag sometimes when you use it constantly?

Does the phone get hot and heat up after you use it for a while (30 minutes or more) and by using it I mean listening to the radio over 3G. I don't know if this is the case that I am using or the phone itself?

Thank you so much for your future responses, I greatly appreciate them.

With Rogers/Fido, once 3G is turned off and then back on, it will start at
EDGE (E) and then once the signal is strong enough move to the 3G. If it
hangs on EDGE, try power cycling the iPhone.

The device can lag after many days of use. To prevent this, I recommend
closing the opened apps (multitasking) and power cycling the phone once per
day (when you go to bed for example).

When I'm listening to the iPod for 60 minutes or more, the iPhone 4 never
gets warm. However, since you are streaming, I would say that is normal.

  • Well, when I don't check the feed for a few days and then find 37 updates…it's a bit much. I don't mind some advertising, these guys need a revenue model, but I'd like to be able to filter out a lot of the uninteresting posts. Gawker media has RSS customization, I'm curious if such a system could be implemented here as well.

I have a Griffin Jolt charger. Some times they charge my phones fine. Sometimes I get messages about it being an unsupported product and it won't charge, or it's an unsupported product and it may cause static with a switch to Airplane mode option. Usually at the most in-opportune time (when I'm low on juice). Is the SE better/problem free? Maybe. Pay your money and take your chance.

  • iPhone4crazy

Dude are you serious? I would be going to Griffin and Ballistics and saying “yo gimme $500 or we will give your product a bad review…-2 stars, Muhahaha.” The evil laugh is optional but you get my point.

  • Sigh. No offense, but, you know this post isn't an Ad right?

Gary, Ex, Rory, Myself, no one gets paid to write about products. We do it to let our readers know about the accessories that are New, Discounted, Interesting or On Sale. We do accessory/product Announcements, Reviews, and Giveaways. The reason you might be seeing more recently is because there are a lot of new products coming out to go along with the iPhone 4. Lots of the readers actually like the product info we give on the site. Other than the very obvious ads on the right hand side of the page, NO ONE MAKES ANY MONEY BY POSTING ABOUT PRODUCTS ON THIS SITE.

Eg, if you go out and buy 20 Griffin PowerJolt SE's it doesn't effect us in any way – we didn't get paid to write about it, not would we get paid if you bought any – we're just giving you the INFO to help you know what your CHOICES ARE.

I don't want to sound rude, I just want to clarify.

And to your first point – yes – you can subscribe to 'carrier' updated only — to the right of this page you'll see a big long list of categories. Select one (say, iPhone Rogers). Once on that page, you can select the RSS button in your address bar and subscribe to that Category Feed.

Subscribe to as many as you like, you can customize exactly which posts you want to read from iPhoneinCanada. Enjoy!

  • This post is NOT A PAID ADVERTISEMENT. Please read the reply that I posted above – in response to Square Wheel.

  • THIS POST IS NOT AN AD – like Ex said, we do not get any financial support for posting info about products.

    Amazing comment.

  • I think I must be so used so searching for just content on blogs that I've come to phase out blog-spam. The comments are indeed useful. Looks like I can use a service like pipes to combine the carrier-related ones into a single feed, or just use groups in a feed reader.

Thanks for the information, even if it was in a very condescending tone. 😉

  • Square, it wasn't at you, it was at *everyone* 🙂 I love you, never leave us!

  • =) And that made my day. I love you too, internet lady.
