Amazon Cloud Drive Photos for iOS Launches with 5GB Free Storage

Amazon has launched a free app to enable users to backup their photos to the cloud. Amazon Cloud Drive Photos for iOS is a free download and comes with 5GB of free cloud storage to backup your photos.

Users just need to download the app and sign in with their Amazon account (Canadian accounts work just fine) to then backup their photos. Essentially, this app feels just like the option within the Dropbox iOS app to backup photos to the cloud.

By default, the app will only upload your photos when connected to Wi-Fi and there is a setting for to turn on ‘Large Upload Mode’, which will disable your iPhone’s lock screen from turning off to complete large uploads (it also suggests charging your iPhone while you do this):

Pictures uploaded from your iPhone or iPod touch will be accessible on the web via Amazon’s Cloud Drive, which is available as an app for the Mac or PC. From there, users can also upload photos from their computer to view on their iPhone.

Cloud Drive > Pictures > (Your iPhone’s Name) > Camera Roll > Pictures

There are also sharing options for photos via Twitter, Facebook and email. If you’re looking for a way to backup your photos, this just might another free option out there. Let us know how it works out for you.

I know it’s free, but still prefer the flickr unlimited storage for photos and video solution they have been offering for quite a while now…
