American Express Canada has announced the launch of “Points for Purchases”, which allows customers enrolled in their points rewards program to access and redeem against eligible spending on purchases. This new redemption option is also available within the Amex CA iOS app.
This means eligible cardmembers can redeem points to pay off eligible purchase transactions virtually within the app. Once users redeem their points, they’ll see credit applied to their account within 48 hours. There is a minimum reception of 1,000 points.
“We’re excited to be able to offer our Cardmembers the ultimate flexibility when it comes to redeeming their points,” says Megan McKee, Vice President of Consumer Card Marketing, at American Express Canada, in a statement to iPhone in Canada.
“By using their points towards eligible purchases, eligible Cardmembers can use their Membership Rewards Points simply and conveniently through their Amex App. Whether it’s new furniture for the home, or back to school shopping or travel, Cardmembers have more choice than ever before when it comes to redemption.”
The new Use of Points for Purchases program replaces the TripFlex redemption option for personal and small business cards.
Amex CA for iOS also supports Touch ID for logins. American Express Canada was the first financial institution to support Apple Pay in Canada last fall.
