Angry Birds Toons to Debut on March 17th within All Angry Birds Apps

Rovio today has announced Angry Birds Toons will first debut on March 17th and will be available to stream from within all Angry Birds apps, with new episodes airing every weekend at the same time. An update will arrive on March 17th to allow fans to watch episodes right within apps via a new channel button on game home screens. TV networks will get access to the episodes a day earlier on the 16th.

“We’ve long wanted to tell our fans the story of the Angry Birds and the Bad Piggies, to introduce their personalities and their world in detail.” said Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio.

Rovio also announced the Angry Birds franchise has exceeded 1.7 billion downloads and expects the new 52 episodes of the new animated series to reach fans across the globe via streaming deals with TV networks, Samsung Smart TVs and Roku boxes.
