Apple Names 2014’s Best iPhone, iPad and Mac Apps [LIST]

Apple today shared a “Best of 2014” list containing the company’s favourites and this year’s chart-topper apps and games. Besides games, Apple also highlights the best music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and books.

The best iPhone app title went to Elevate, while the best iPhone game was named as Threes! For iPad, Pixelmator took the best app of the year, while the best game in 2014 was Monument Valley, Apple says.

Best new artist: Sam Smith

Best family movie: The LEGO movie
Best director: Richard Linklater
Best Canadian movie: Mommy

TV Shows:
TV Show of the Year: Fargo, Season 1
Best performances: True Detective, Season 1
Best book adaptation: Outlander, Season 1
Best French language series: Série noire, Saison 1

Podcasts:
Best classic podcast: Quirks and Quarks Complete Show from CBC Radio
Best new podcast: Serial

Mac app and game:
Best Mac app: Notability
Best Mac game: Tomb Raider

Besides singling out the best of the best for 2014, Apple has also shared a list of the most popular iPhone and iPad apps. Here we find Yahoo, VISCO Cam, Wild Canada, World of Tank Blitz, Leo’s Fortune, Hitman GO, 1Password, and Camera+, among others.
