After noting there was “no news to share” regarding Apple Pay, Coast Capital Savings Credit Union has followed through on its promise of debuting mobile cheque deposit, as the highly anticipated feature is now live.
The feature is available within the Coast Capital Savings iOS (and Android) app, delivered through a back-end update and not through the App Store (the app is basically just a mobile version of their website).
The new mobile deposit feature will accept Canadian cheques, money orders, bank drafts, convenience cheques and certified cheques from personal and business members, with deposits appearing in your account in real-time (holds may apply).
Once you login to the iOS app, you’ll see a new icon for Deposit On-the-go, as seen below:
Tap this, and you’ll be greeted with an intro splash page, showing you the step-by-step process.
The app will ask for access to your Camera, where you will snap pictures of the front and rear of your cheque (you need to endorse the back). Select which account to make the deposit to and enter the amount, and you’re good to go.
Customers will be required to agree to the mobile deposit terms agreement, and also keep cheques for 90 days after they deposit it, then destroy within the next 30 days.
