Google Arts & Culture iOS App Launches Museum Selfies in Canada

The Google Arts & Culture iOS app still is the top free app download under the ‘Free’ category in the App Store, as Canadians have been longing for the ‘museum selfie’ mode, which matches your face to a painting in a museum.

The problem? The museum selfie feature didn’t work in Canada without a workaround, because it was geo-restricted to the USA.

But that has changed today, as an update to the app has quietly added support for Canadians to try the selfie feature out.

Search with your selfie: Now available in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand and parts of the U.S. Stay tuned as we try to improve and expand this experiment.

After launching the app and scrolling down a bit, you should see the highlighted section ‘Search with your selfie’ (if it doesn’t show, try reinstalling the app or force closing it and reopening):

From here, just follow the simple instructions to snap your selfie and wait for a museum match to appear. Share your results with your friends, then have some cheap laughs to start the freakin’ weekend.
