You Can Now Share Instagram Stories You’ve Been Mentioned In

Ever wanted to share an Instagram Story when you’ve been @ mentioned in? You now can, as Instagram has launched mention sharing.

As of today, when someone mentions your name in their Instagram Story, you’ll be able to share their photo or video yourself, in your own story. Instagram says this addition means when you’re occupied and “you don’t take out your phone, you can still share the moment.”

Mention Story Sharing 4 up

Users will be notified of being mentioned in a story via their Direct messages and a new option will indicate you can “Add This to Your Story”. Once you do this, you’ll see the story as a sticker, where you’ll be able to modify or add to it, then re-share to your own followers. The original person who shared the story with you will also appear and be tappable by your viewers.

Instagram says only public accounts can have stories shared, and this update is part of Instagram for iOS and Android, version 48.
