Instagram Surpasses 100 Million Active Users Per Month

Instagram has announced it has surpassed 100 million active users per month, after launching its photo network back in October 2010, as written by co-founder Kevin Systrom (they hit over 10 million users in less than year):

Now, nearly two and a half years later, over 100 million people use Instagram every month. It’s easy to see this as an accomplishment for a company, but I think the truth is that it’s an accomplishment for our community. Now, more than ever, people are capturing the world in real-time using Instagram—sharing images from the farthest corners of the globe. What we see as a result is a world more connected and understood through photographs.

In July of 2012, the service passed 80 million users and 4 billion photos shared and last month Instagram announced 90 million monthly active users, so that makes about 10 million new active users per month. Now that Instagram is available for Android, expect these numbers to keep rising.
