Today Apple announced updates to iLife and iWork for Mac and iOS, along with making these apps free for qualified users. These apps are now available in the App Store and Mac App Store.

Users can find updates for iMovie, iPhoto and GarageBand in the Mac App Store:

Also, Apple has launched their Up-To-Date Program for Pages, Numbers and Keynote.

There are a couple scenarios to determine whether you will get these apps for free or not according to Apple:

1. If you purchased a qualifying Mac on or after October 1, 2013, that did not include Pages, Numbers and Keynote, you can download them free in the Mac App Store (OS X Mavericks required).

2. If you purchased your Mac on or after October 22, 2013, you need to submit your Up?to?Date request within 30 days of the date you purchased your Mac to qualify for the Up?To?Date Program.

3. If you’re already running OS X Mavericks, you can update iLife and iWork for free in the Mac App Store.

You can find these latest updates in the App Store and Mac App Store. Many of you have told us GarageBand is ‘missing’ but we expect it to return shortly.

Let us know how you like these iLife and iWork updates.

Can you update a purchased disc copy of iWork 09 and iLife 11 to these new versions? Updates for them aren’t showing in the Mac App Store and their in app update services don’t show an update.

Not yet. I only assume that it will come eventually.
