New PC Optimum iOS App Now Available, Supports iPhone X and Wallet [b]

Loblaws has launched their PC Optimum iPhone app today, which comes as an update to the existing PC Plus app. The new PC Optimum program combines the PC Plus and Shoppers Optimum programs together, into one loyalty program.

Customers will be able to redeem points at the rate of $10 for every 10,000 points accumulated (updated) at store such as Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, Joe Fresh and Shoppers Drug Mart. Some Shoppers and Pharmaprix stores in Quebec will get to earn 15 points for every $1 spent on eligible products.

The new PC Optimum iPhone app supports iPhone X and also Apple’s Wallet app, so you can load it quickly at check out. The new app also includes personalized offers, a store locator and flyers.

How to merge your existing points into the new PC Optimum program? You first need to create a PC Optimum account “PC id”, then you’ll find options to link your old PC Plus, Optimum or PC Financial Mastercard, with an option to link others later.

Next, you’ll be asked to verify your request via email and once complete, you should see your new points balance. Your old points will have moved to the new program at equal value. Any customers who used their Shoppers Optimum card between January 30-31 won’t see their points reflected, but will be updated no later by February 28.

You most likely won’t be successful in transferring your points over today—PC Optimum says the high volume is overwhelming the system. The following message “our apologies, an unknown error has occurred,” will show when you click submit (we can confirm the system is overwhelmed).

“Customers will be able to earn points at the rate of 10,000 for every $10 spent either in-store or online at locations such as Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, Joe Fresh and Shoppers Drug Mart.”

This is the other way around: you can redeem $10 for each 10,000 pts accumulated. You still earn points the same way as before (with PC Plus or Optimum): with personalized or in-store offers.

  • Whooops, updated, thanks #coffeez

I did not receive an email to verify my request, just an email saying the sign-up was successful. It also wasn’t clear at first that I had to sign up for a new account and then link to the old one. I tried to sign in with my old account a few times, unsuccessfully. I just know now the next time my mom opens the app she’s going to have to call me because it will be confusing. Could they not have just left the old account intact and when you sign on, then convert it for you?

P.S. – I am not liking the pink at all – get rid of it PC! And it appears that the deals have “reset” because most of them not longer apply to me. The old program learned over time what you buy regularly.

This was posted two hours ago when news reports all over made it clear that there were problems with their system hours before that. There’s your story! Did you not think to do a little more research before posting this or was this written in advance?

  • Don’t shoot the messenger Charles, have a great day.
