Pocket for Mac Launches in the Mac App Store

Pocket (formerly Read It Later) users on a Mac, we have great news for you: Pocket is now available in the Mac App Store!

Pocket for Mac

To create the new Mac app, we tapped into Pocket’s developer community. Michael Schneider, the creator of the popular third-party Mac app Read Later, joined Pocket to help us create this official Mac version of Pocket. If you’re an existing Read Later Mac App user you can upgrade for the full Pocket experience here, the Pocket  blog reads.

Today Pocket has reached another milestone in its mission to make it easier to save and enjoy the content you love everywhere: after Pocket for iOS, the Mac app is finally here! The new app aims to bring the same excellent reading experience on the Mac that you have already experienced on the iOS device or by using its Safari plugin.

I know from my own experience that I loved using Pocket, because I could focus on the content instead of being distracted by other irrelevant information present on the site that I found interesting to browse.

Pocket for Mac brings all the great features you need to enjoy a distraction-free reading experience: a very nicely designed, professional interface, with keyboard shortcuts for key actions, easy organization and very fast search features. Plus, there’s a new way to save from your clipboard.

You can easily save a page to Pocket for Mac in two ways. As you may already know, when you copy a link, you can paste it anywhere you like. The app takes advantage of the clipboard to make it easier for you to capture the content you’d like to read: with the link copied and Pocket for Mac opened, simply press Command + S, and the page will immediately appear on the left Menu Bar. Another way is to drag and drop the website icon (or Favicon) that appears on the left of the URL and drop it on top of Pocket. That’s it.

So, have you started downloading Pocket? If not, do it now, it’s free!
