Skype for iPhone Update Brings Ability to Start Group Audio Calls

Skype has updated its iPhone app to bring new features, including the ability to start a group audio chat with up to four people from your phone. Also new is the option to add or remove people to an existing call, plus new accessibility improvements as well:

What’s New in Version 5.4
Start a group audio call from your iPhone.

• Turn a chat, an audio call or a video call into a group audio call with up to four people.
• Add (or remove) people to an existing call.

Accessibility improvements

• New messages are now read out from anywhere in the app and reliability has also been improved.
• Delete recent conversations using the VoiceOver rotor.

General improvements

The update adds a new ‘call’ icon when you’re in a group chat. When you’re in a group audio call, the number of participants are now shown in the top status bar, which you can just tap to see the contacts within it. If you tap the more options icon, you now get a new ‘add participant’ option.

Skype previously announced it was revamping notifications, so that only your active device would buzz and alert you.
