TalkTo Launches in Canada: Text Businesses Questions, Get Answers

TalkTo is a clever service aimed to eliminate calling businesses to get answers, but rather text them instead. There’s nothing worse than waiting on the line to get a specific question answered, such as business hours (if they’re not listed on the web, for example). The service today has officially launched in Canada.

“Texting businesses should as easy as texting your friends,” said TalkTo CEO, Stuart Levinson. “By bringing TalkTo to Canada, we are saving Canadians from the hassle of calling businesses and being put on hold.”

How does the service work? You find your business, text them a question (you can get creative here) and you will receive a reply in an average time of five minutes or so. You can sync your profile across the web and any device running the free app. It’s quite brilliant.

Once you’ve asked your question, you will receive a push notification when answers are received. I tested out the app by asking a local Future Shop if they had the new BlackBerry Z10 in stock. Check out the conversation below:

Well, I guess that settles the iPhone 5 versus BlackBerry 10 debate right??

How does TalkTo work? Here’s the official word:

To make all this possible, TalkTo works in the background to find the best way to contact the business with your message. The app can deliver it by chat, SMS, email, or even an old-fashioned phone call if necessary, and then it makes sure you receive a text response.

TalkTo is one of the coolest apps I’ve seen in a while. It has worked flawlessly in all of my tests even to even the smallest businesses. There’s even options to receive notifications via email or text as well, which ensures you’ll get an answer promptly. TalkTo can text any business located in Canada or the USA.
