Vine Mobile App to Be Discontinued Says Twitter

Vine for mobile is dead, says the company in a blog post:

Today, we are sharing the news that in the coming months we’ll be discontinuing the mobile app.

Nothing is happening to the apps, website or your Vines today. We value you, your Vines, and are going to do this the right way. You’ll be able to access and download your Vines. We’ll be keeping the website online because we think it’s important to still be able to watch all the incredible Vines that have been made. You will be notified before we make any changes to the app or website.

Twitter launched Vine back in 2013, after acquiring New York-based Vine Labs in 2012. Since then, “millions” of Vine loops have been created, says the company.

Earlier today, Twitter announced their earnings, which saw revenue growth slow, and the announcement of a 9 per cent cut in its workforce.

There are lots of popular creators on Vine making their living from the app. This will definitely come as surprising news.
