If you’ve been waiting for WhatsApp Messenger to go on sale, it’s currently a free download in the App Store. If you haven’t used WhatsApp, it’s a popular and powerful cross platform messaging app that will allow you to communicate with friends who also have the app on Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Symbian devices.
The messaging app periodically holds these freebies and since iTunes Connect is set to go down for holidays soon, this move is a perfect way to pad those download numbers. Last year on Christmas Eve the app’s price was also slashed to free.
The popular messaging app last held a similar promotion this July. In August, the service was handling 10 billion messages per day. WhatsApp has been making the headlines recently as it was rumoured to be acquired by Facebook, but it turned out to be false.
