Check Out this Apple iTV Concept [PICS]

In a recent interview, Tim Cook spilled gas on the fire, saying the television industry is an intense area of interest, which triggered a huge amount of speculation that Apple television set may (or may not) possibly be on its way to consumers in the near future. Here are the latest mockups compiled by Brightcove CEO Jeremy Allaire, as reported by AllThingsD.

In an interesting perspective, though, put together by Allaire, Apple won’t just release an amazing new television set with up to 60-inch display, but would release a companion device for $149, which attaches to almost any existing TV.

“A new companion device for TV that starts at $149, attaches to nearly any existing TV, and does not require customers to buy an expensive new monitor. This is crucial for quickly establishing and maintaining platform dominance quickly and even stand-alone could be a $5-10 billion opportunity.

A new family of ultra-thin TV monitors that bundles all of the capabilities of the companion device and includes beefed up computing power. These large-screen monitors will be a direct assault on the global TV monitor industry, a market worth hundreds of billions annually, albeit with slightly slower replacement cycles of four years versus two years for smartphones and tablets. This gives Apple that additional $30 billion+ revenue stream it needs.”

The concept involves iOS 7, and the new Apple TV companion will feature a quad-core processor, to deliver 1080p HD video and the most demanding gaming graphics. From Allaire’s perspective, the Apple television set will be the perfect TV for media consumption, the best gaming device, and the best way to make use of all the user’s apps.
