Rumour: Entry-level 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro For $1,699

During the iPad mini event Apple will likely introduce new iMacs, Mac Minis and a 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro as well. 9to5mac received pricing information: the entry-level, 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro model will cost about $1699 in the US, and for higher-spec models buyers will likely need to pay up to $300 more.

Retina MacBook Pro

Currently, the entry-level, 15-inch 2.3 GHz Retina MacBook Pro is marketed for $2,299, while the higher-spec 2.6 GHz Retina MBP with Turbo Boost up to 3.6 GHz and 512 GB of Flash storage is available for $2,829.

The 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro will be a more wallet-friendly option, yet only for those who are comfortable with a smaller screen. In regards availability: the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro was available right after the announcement was made, so we expect the same with the 13-inch version, although as the 9to5mac source points out, we can “expect some supply constraints like we saw with the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro.”

The new Retina MacBook Pros will likely sport a 2,560 × 1,600 pixel display, double the pixel size current MacBook Pros feature and 128 GB of flash storage. Considering that both 15-inch Retina MBPs are available with Flash storage, we bet on the same decision with this rumoured 13-inch MBP launch.

However, this isn’t official information. Apple is silent as usual, but there are only a couple more days to go until the eagerly awaited event. We are counting down the hours already; are you?
