Apple Hires Enrique Atienza, Ex-Levi Strauss Senior VP, for U.S. Retail Team

9to5Mac reports that Apple has hired Enrique Atienza as its top director for the U.S. Retail market. According to Atienza’s LinkedIn profile, he has been at Apple Retail for two months now, and he previously served as Levi Stauss’ Senior Vice President, Retail America and Global Store Operations.

According to 9to5Mac’s sources, Atienza is in charge of all retail matters for many regions within the West Coast of the U.S., with the role officially starting in October.

A source says that Atienza will be the director of all retail matters for many regions within the West Coast of the United States, and this role is one of the highest ranking retail positions inside of Apple. Several internal and external candidates were considered for the position, but the external Atienza is said to have been the best fit. While Atienza has already signed on with Apple, he is yet to actually begin his management role. He will officially start in October.

Even as an outsider, Atienza seems to have the mindset of a Tim Cook hire. The retail executive led a transition for Levi’s to streamline its global sales approach to be more consistent and organized.

The sources also whispered that Steve Cano received the role of Vice President of Retail Operations earlier this year and now he reports directly to Tim Cook, while the recently hired Atienza reports to Cano.

Apple apparently is seeking outside candidates for the available Head of Retail role. The position remains vacant since John Browett was ousted from the company.
