Pete Distad, formerly the senior vice president of marketing and distribution at Hulu, recently was hired by Apple to take the role of vice president of product marketing, 9to5Mac reports.
According to Distad’s LinkedIn page, he has worked for Apple for about a month. Hulu’s executive biographies page is apparently down, possibly for updating the bios of the executive team.
Back in July, Bloomberg reported that Distad had received an offer from Apple to lead negotiations. The company allegedly was close to ink a deal with Time Warner, and given Distad’s position at Hulu, he was just the right person to take on the negotiations task. Distad was responsible for leading Hulu’s efforts in customer acquisition and retention, distribution, and marketing partnerships, and content and brand marketing.
Apple was expected to announce an agreement with Time Warner in a few months, but what we know so far is the company is involved in high-level negotiations with television content providers.
The Apple TV is rumoured to get a much-needed addition in terms of content, but the anticipated improvements have faced issues during negotiations with cable companies.
