Hyundai today announced that it will bring the Apple CarPlay technology into its Sonata lineup of automobiles as early as next year. Hyundai joins Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo in adopting the recently introduced Apple technology that brings the iOS experience on four wheels.
Hyundai’s latest Audio Video Navigation (AVN) systems are already recognized for their beautiful, yet intuitive interface and advanced feature set. Our engineers took advantage of the vivid eight-inch touchscreen to integrate CarPlay for an experience that iPhone users will instantly recognize. A Sonata equipped with CarPlay, lets drivers have the ability to make calls, use Maps, listen to music and access messages.
By adopting this technology, Hyundai becomes the first volume manufacturer that brings CarPlay to market. Hyundai automobile drivers, however will have to wait until later this year as the CarPlay enabled Sonatas will debut in the 2015 model year.
Those who love their car, there are other other possibilities for the fraction of the investment needed for a new car: both Pioneer and Alpine have announced the first aftermarket CarPlay enabled in-dash car multimedia players, which will be available as early as this spring starting at $749.
