The forthcoming Product (RED) Auction has deep ties with Apple, as the company’s head of design, Jony Ive, has heavily contributed to driving the auction to success. As you may already know, Ive has designed a unique Leica camera in a partnership with Leica, but today another auction piece signed by Ive and Marc Newson has hit the Web: the (RED) Desk (via The Verge).

The (RED) Desk is a one-of-a-kind table machined from solid aluminum (why I am not surprised?) featuring a unique cellular surface pattern, courtesy of aluminum specialists Neal Feay Studio.

The unique piece will be put on sale during the (RED) auction, to be held at Sotheby’s on November 23. As we previously reported, there will be about 40 lots, all selected by Marc Newson and Jony Ive, including the Leica M rangefinder camera, a pair of solid gold Earpods, and others. The two shared their thoughts about design, philosophy and the Product (RED) work process in an interview with Vanity Fair yesterday.
