Bell’s All-Fibre Broadband Network to Expand to Clarington

Bell continues to roll out its all-fibre broadband network, with the next location slated for the Municipality of Clarington, located within the Durham Region in Ontario.

The deployment of the “world’s best Internet technology” will expand Bell’s fibre to the premises (FTTP) network to over 28,000 Clarington residences and businesses, as part of an overall network expansion to reach over 1.3 million homes and businesses in the GTA/905 region about Toronto.

“The Municipality of Clarington is delighted to partner with Bell to extend this vital infrastructure to our community and support our residents, businesses and visitors,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster, in a press release. “This is a major initiative that has been years in the making, and we’re very excited that our community will have access to state-of-the-art broadband connectivity, a service that is no longer a wish but rather a necessity.”

Bell FTTP delivers symmetrical upload and download speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps), with future design to bring speeds of 40 Gbps and beyond.

“The Mayor and staff in Clarington have been instrumental in providing the access we need to roll out this major project as quickly and efficiently as possible,” said Bruce Furlong, Bell’s Vice President, Network, in a statement. “Our productive partnership will provide Clarington with an essential smart city communications infrastructure to deliver the best connections now and into the future.”

Last month, Bell’s $1.5 billion fibre project went live in Toronto, while Oshawa is set to go live with all-fibre this fall.

Gigabit Fibe Internet is currently available at promo pricing of $79.95 per month for 12 months, then back to its regular price of $149.95 per month, which comes with up to 1 Gbps download and up to 940 Mbps upload speeds, and unlimited monthly usage. New installations require a one-time $59.95 activation fee.
