Virgin Mobile To Increase 911 Fee In Saskatchewan

After just finishing a series of price increases this past April 15, effective May 20 2010, Virgin Mobile will be increasing another price, its 911 fee, for Saskatchewan-based subscribers.

The current 911 fee charged by Virgin Mobile in Saskatchewan is $0.38. That amount will be increasing to $0.62 as of May, 20 2010. Virgin Mobile indicates that the reason for the fee increase was by request from the Government of Saskatchewan.

As of May 20, 2010, the regulated monthly provincial fee for the funding of the 911 service for Virgin Mobile Members in Saskatchewan will change from 38¢ to 62¢.

Just a heads-up, this change has been made by the Government of Saskatchewan and not by Virgin Mobile. We’re required to collect the fee and pass it on to the Government of Saskatchewan.

While this fee increase does not affect iPhone owners, since Virgin Mobile does not yet support the iPhone in Saskatchewan or Manitoba, it does affect current and future Virgin Mobile subscribers. However, once the iPhone is launched in the area, this fee increase is something to be made aware of.
