Fido Drops $35 Activation Fee Until “Further Notice”

Last month, the Fido activation fee waiver promotion expired on March 31, 2010.

Effective April 2 2010, Fido is waiving their $35 activation fee for new activations (new customers) and are continuing to waive the $35 activation fee “until further notice”. This promotion could very well be permanent for Fido.

Eligibility & Restrictions

The offer is applicable to new 2/3-year term activations on the following rate plans:

  • CityFido Plans
  • Plans with monthly service fee $15, $20, $25, $35, $50, $70
  • iPhone Voice & Data Plans
  • Mobile Broadband Data Plans

A $35 bill credit for 100% of the activation fee will appear on the customer’s first invoice.

Since the promotion has no expiration date and is being listed as “until further notice”, I am hoping this sets an industry trend and begins the permanent waiving of this silly activation fee.
