Christian Paradis, the Minister of Industry, is currently in Barcelona, Spain at Mobile World Congress 2013. His plans are to promote Canada as a premier place for foreign investment, highlighting our skilled workforce, information and communications technologies, and the steps taken by the Harper Government that has resulted in our country as a leading digital economy.

“Our government has taken concrete action since 2008 to position Canada as a leader in the global digital economy including launching two new spectrum auctions, which will facilitate at least four wireless providers across the country obtaining spectrum; removing restrictions on foreign investment in the telecommunications sector; and building a world-leading legal framework to support a growing and changing economy,”

Paradis highlighted Canada is a leader in wireless telecommunications equipment, mobile and gaming software development, business analytics, and home to 25 per cent of North America’s fastest-growing wireless companies.

Companies and representatives from the provinces of Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic region will join Paradis in opening the Canada pavilion on the MWC show floor today, while the Minister will also speak at the “Connect with Canada” breakfast set for tomorrow, where numerous Canadian and international companies will be in attendance.
