MTS to Expand Wi-Fi Service to 350 City of Winnipeg Community Facilities

MTS has announced it has partnered with the City of Winnipeg to expand its MTS Wi-Fi service to community facilities such as libraries, arenas, rec centres and other sites:

“It has been a commitment of mine to provide the services that Winnipeggers need to stay connected when visiting our civic facilities, and this agreement does just that,” said Mayor Katz. “So whether you’re a parent watching your child play hockey at a local arena or need to do research on the Internet at one of our libraries, you will have access at your fingertips.”

“MTS customers can connect to the Web in their home, on the go and when visiting their local arena or coffee shop,” said Mr. Shepherd. “With our extensive wireless and broadband networks, and growing number of Wi-Fi Hotspots, MTS offers the most comprehensive overall Internet experience in the province.”

MTS will bring Wi-Fi to 350 City of Winnipeg locations over two years, part of a $2 million investment, to add to existing 400 plus Wi-Fi hotspot locations. MTS customers will be able to seamlessly connect to hotspots after entering their login details just once.

These locations will enable those with smaller data plans to conserve their allotments by using Wi-Fi. Earlier this week MTS announced the launch of its LTE network in Ste. Anne.
