Ottawa Expected to Announce Auction Details of 2500MHz Spectrum for 2015

Yesterday Industry Canada sent out a media advisory stating Industry Minister James Moore today “will make an announcement about consumer choice and better services in the wireless market” at 10AM PST (1PM EST) in Vancouver.

According to Global News, the Minister will be announcing the 2500MHz auction of radio waves set to take place in early 2015:

Global News has learned Industry Minister James Moore will provide details on an auction for radiowaves in the 2500Mhz frequencies, bands that support wireless Web traffic sent to and from smartphones and other connected devices.

Yesterday, analysts speculated Minister Moore would further announce new rules to lower domestic roaming rates the Big 3 could charge newer wireless entrants.

The 2500MHz Broadband Radio Service (BRS) was previously mentioned by Ottawa to take place in 2014 to further increase wireless voice and data services for Canadians.
