Over 23 Billion Text Messages Sent in Canada in Q1 2012

The Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) has released new numbers for text messages sent in Canada during the Q1 2012 period, with over 23 billion messages sent. They noted in March of 2012, 7.8 billion messages were sent, or 254 million messages per day.

Total messages sent in 2011 were 78 billion, up from 56.4 billion in 2010.

As for MMS, the 2012 Q1 period had 122 million sent and as of March this year, roughly 1.4 million MMS are being sent daily. In 2011, total MMS messages sent totaled 326.7 million.

Last year’s Q1 period was revealed at 18 billion messages sent, so the messaging trend continues to rise. Of course, these numbers don’t count messages sent through third party apps such as iMessage, WhatsApp, etc.

How many texts are you sending per day?
