Roam Mobility Doubles Data for ‘Snowbird Plan’, Debuts Unlimited Talk+Text for $19.95

Roam Mobility has announced a new unlimited talk and text Snowbird Plan for $19.95 per month (or $0.67 per day as they say) for Canadians travelling to the USA. This new plan includes unlimited nationwide talk, unlimited global text, unlimited long-distance calls back to Canada to go with voicemail and caller ID.

As for its existing Snowbird Talk+Text+Data plan, the company has now doubled the 4G LTE data amount to 2GB, while the price remains at $39.95 per month (or $1.33 per day). This plan includes everything in the $19.95 plan but adds unlimited 2G data (EDGE), 2GB of 4G LTE data and unlimited global MMS.

“Our goal has always been to make roaming an afterthought, so we’re pleased to provide Canadians living part-time in the U.S. with the lowest priced Tier 1 service in North America,” said Emir Aboulhosn, founder and CEO of Roam Mobility. “For less than $1 a day, Canadians can stay connected with their American friends as well as call family and friends back home in Canada; at a price that would make any American jealous and wondering why they can’t get the same deal.”

To use Roam Mobility, users need to purchase a SIM card from the company ($9.95 for one or two for $14.95) and have an unlocked iPhone or other mobile device. You setup your plan’s start dates online while you’re still in Canada so by the time you arrive in the U.S., all you have to do is pop in the SIM and you’ll be connected.

Aboulhosn also took an opportunity to take a shot at the Big 3, which have offered lower U.S. roaming plans lately: “This year we’ve seen U.S. roaming rates come down thanks to certain carriers that are claiming to have the best price on roaming, so we encourage Canadians to read the fine print when looking for a U.S. roaming plan or find a more affordable service like Roam Mobility.”

Roam Mobility has over 100,000 customers and recently experienced some ‘growing pains’, but in a move to apologize to customers the company gave away 33% bonus 4G LTE data on all of their Talk+Text+Data plans.
