Hey you! Want to buy an iPhone 3G? Currently there are a few ways to get your grubby little paws on the “latest” phone out there. You can call Rogers/Fido and order over the phone or visit any Rogers/Fido retail outlet (and Wireless Wave). For those who want even greater access to the iPhone, it looks like Future Shop and Best Buy will be added to the list of places to buy the iPhone 3G.
Best Buy Canada will Sell the iPhone 3G: It’s Official!
Best Buy announced a while earlier that it would sell the iPhone 3G in the USA. Well, yesterday they confirmed they would also be selling the device in Canada. It’ll be part of the coming-to-a-store-near-you Best Buy Mobile departments. Basically these will be mobile stores sectioned off inside Best Buy locations. Currently there is already a Mobile store at the Vaughan Mills location in the Greater Toronto Area. Here is a snippet from the press release:
“The iPhone is a revolutionary product that has changed the way people think about their mobile phone and we are pleased to be able to help Canadians get their hands on one of the hottest new products introduced in Canada this year,” said Phil Johnston, Director, Wireless Solutions, Best Buy Canada Ltd. “We want Canadians to know that they can count on Best Buy Mobile for the latest and greatest in mobile technology.”
Now, Best Buy and Future Shop fall under the same ownership so it would only make sense that Future Shop would carry the device as well. This is all about the iPhone 3G reaching a lot more people and incurring more sales. Let’s take a look at the Future Shop “announcement”…moving on!
Future Shop: Selling the iPhone 3G on October 1st?
Future Shop currently is an authorized Apple reseller. They sell iPods and Apple desktop and notebooks. It only makes perfect sense that they would carry the iPhone 3G, right? Well, according to a thread on the Future Shop message boards, the iPhone 3G will be available at the following Future Shop locations:
· Vancouver- Broadway, Robson, Coquitlam Centre, and West Vancouver
· Calgary- Shawnessy and Northland
· Edmonton- Edmonton West
· Torontoarea – Downtown Toronto, Yonge& Eglinton, Eglinton & Laird, Vaughan,and Heartland
· Ottawa- Ottawa South
· Montreal- Centreville and Marche Central
The poster mentioned this information was “fresh off the emails” so we’ll have to wait to ensure it will be 100% confirmed. There were rumors in the past that the iPhone 3G would be available at Future Shop in September. I’d say this is close enough. Now if only Apple would hurry up with an update to their MacBook line up!
So there you have it. The iPhone 3G will coming soon to a Best Buy and Future Shop near you. More and more people will have the iPhone 3G. Could it be the next RAZR in town?
