Rogers $50 Plan: Nationwide Calling, 1GB Data, $5 Off for Students [Quebec]

Rogers has offered a new regional wireless plan for Quebec customers only. Here’s what it includes:

  • Unlimited Canada-Wide calling
  • Unlimited SMS/MMS
  • Call Display, Voicemail
  • 2500 Call Forwarding minutes, call waiting, three way calling
  • 1GB of data ($15/1GB overage charge)
  • $50 per month; $45 per month for students ($5 off); 10% off per month if you bring your own device
  • Available on monthly or two-year terms

If you’re a student and you bring your own device, you can get this plan for $40.50 per month, which is a decent deal. Unfortunately for the rest of us, this plan is only available in Quebec. If you use under 1GB of data per month and use lots of long distance, this could be the plan for you.

Share the plan with other Canadians.

  • Nice try.
    But this is not enough.
Only 1 GB of data and only available to Quebec customers. I live in Quebec, but I think this is unfair for the rest of the Canada.

They could charge 30$ for this. And they’d still make a lot of money.

Can my Ontario ID and living in Ottawa let me into this plan? I’d take it.

Skunk you Robers! I can’t wait for verizon. Even if they do not lower their prices when they come I will still switch. Just because!

    no shit eh!

I think someone else on here said you could go over to Quebec and sign up for it (that may have been a Videotron deal). Not sure about roaming charges but I know a lot of Quebecers work/shop in the Ottawa region who just happen to be across the river and I’m sure the majority of them have cell phones. Worth looking into at least. Or look at signing up with Videotron (they have better deals than the rest of Canadians are offered with the exception of residents of Saskatchewan) same kind of situation but in reverse.

Is this applicable to existing customers who want to change their plans?

I recall the stink last year when Telus offered deals like this but only to SK, MB and people in Thunder Bay ON. Telus refused to budge on offering it to 10-yr plus customers wanting to renew.

It makes me wonder if we’ll soon see a return of the $56-60 unlimited Canada plans (w 2GB) Fido, Koodo and Virgin offered nation-wide last Christmas (got mine at $56). This also could be part of a strategy to discourage a certain foreign carrier contemplating entering the CDN market before the Sep deadline, i.e. would it be worth the cost and effort for a high-end carrier to compete against such aggressive pricing?

1GB on a student plan needs to be considered in context; most campuses have free WIFI networks for registered students thus greatly reducing the need for LTE/3G data.

This plan is not available for Iphones…..sigh 😮

  • TheOnlyAdvantageToLiveInQuebec

That’s bullshit, it’s only available with old shit devices.

  • Cyrus Wu

I mean’t with the Rogers offer. And, I spend half my time in Ottawa and my other half in Toronto.

  • FragilityG4

Yeah what the hell ever happen to them wanting things “Fair For Canadians”??

  • 1His_Nibs1

    Either, or.

  • 1His_Nibs1

Oh, I guess you didn’t get the memo. “Fair for Canadians” translated means “Fair for Canadian Wireless telecos & their shareholders” not Joe Citizen like you or I.

It’s a joke that the worst plans are in BC (my province) and Ontario. Just doesn’t make sense why we pay more $$$.
