Rogers Launches ‘Mobile Shopper’ M2M Solution for In-Store Retail Offers

At the Wavefront Wireless Summits in Vancouver this morning, Rogers announced a new machine-to-machine (M2M) solution called Mobile Shopper, which will allow customers to engage with brands via in-store mobile offers.

RioCan, the largest owner of shopping centres in Canada will be first to pilot the new program in select locations in Ontario by trialing Smart Wi-Fi today:

“Access to real-time information and applications on mobile devices is changing how Canadians shop and make purchase decisions. Rogers Mobile Shopper gives Canadians a personal in-store shopping experience right to their smartphone,” said Mansell Nelson, Vice-President, Advanced Business Solutions, Rogers. “For retailers, this connected solution allows them to deliver more value to customers, increase loyalty and drive revenue.”

The Mobile Shopper platform will utilize wireless networks and mobile apps to seek customers who can choose to opt-in to promotional offers on their smartphone or other device. For retailers, it will allow them to gain valuable data on customers and drive more traffic to stores through targeted offers and promotions.

Back in October, Rogers launched ‘Rogers Alerts’ which delivered SMS coupons to customers based on their location.
