Rogers/Fido To Increase International Text Messaging Rate On May 4, 2010

Effective May 4, 2010, Rogers/Fido will be increasing the price of sent international text messages by $0.10, from $0.25 to $0.35 per sent international text message. The price change applies to both prepaid and postpaid customers:

  • The pay-per-use rate for received international text messages will stay the same at $0.15 per received message.
  • The pay-per-use rate for sent text messages to the USA will also remain the same at $0.25 per sent message and $0.15 per received message.
  • If you currently subscribe to a text message/messaging package (such as a $10 international text message bundle), those customers are not affected by the international text message change listed above.

International Text Message Plans

If you do a lot of international text messages and this rate change will hit you hard, you may want to consider an International Text Messaging plan. While this is not the best solution, it may save you some money each month.

Rogers/Fido have International Text Message plans starting at $4.00 per month for postpaid customers. For prepaid customers, Rogers has a $6.00 per month package and Fido prepaid customers have a $0.50 per day rate for 50 sent international text messages.
