Telus to Invest Additional $1.6B in Alberta Through 2016 to Expand Wireless

Telus today has announced it plans to spend an additional $1.6 billion in Alberta in 2015 and 2016 to expand internet connectivity and bring wireless to more communities. This investment is on top of its ongoing 2012 three year plan, which will see the last $1 billion spent this year in the province.

Darren Entwistle, TELUS Executive Chairman, says its LTE network now reaches 90 percent of the Alberta population and the additional investment will go towards 700MHz spectrum deployment, Optik TV, healthcare solutions and construction of its Telus Sky Office tower in downtown Calgary.

The company also recently announced additional investments in BC and Quebec.
