TELUS to Live Stream Drone Flying into Canada Day Fireworks

TELUS says this Canada Day is going to kick off with a bang, as the company says it wants to allow every Canadian to watch fireworks on our country’s 149th birthday, no matter where they are and what the weather may bring.

The company says it will be flying a drone through the Canada Day Fireworks taking place at Toronto’s Harbourfront, and stream it for everybody to see via Facebook Live, from 400 feet up in the air, connected to the TELUS network (of course).

In an emailed statement to iPhone in Canada, TELUS said “The power of our network enables us to deliver this experience to everyone,” on Canada Day.

Customers responding to the TELUS event were questioning what safety precautions were in place and if the company was following Transport Canada UAS rules. TELUS responded with the following to concerned people:

We adhere to strict Transport Canada rules and regulations, and have permission from them to fly our drones at this time. This includes both a S.F.O.C [Special Flight Operating Certificate (SFOC)] and NOTAM [A Notice to Airmen] filed.

The Facebook Live fireworks live stream will take place on July 1, at 10:45PM EDT (7:45PM PDT). The company recently posted a teaser video on Twitter, which you can check out below:
