This is by far the worst data plan. How can Telus advertise this!

no sarcasm here. if u find something better than this, please let me know… but I seriously doubt that: “If 1GB is exceeded, the plan is bumped up to 2GB for $50. If 2GB is exceeded, the plan is bumped up to 5GB for $65. Anything over 5GB is charged at $0.05/MB.”

These are data add ons … Nowhere does it mention voice and only two mention any other additional features … The plan you talk of (35-65) has nothing but data … The 6GB for $30 is far better value compared to all of these plans.

Really? I’m on Fido and I like these options for tiers. Why should pay 30 bucks for 6GB that I will never use per month + fees for texting/MMS + fees for voicemail + 25-30 bucks for a voice plan + fees for early evenings and weekends? I was paying over 90 bucks after taxes per month for my iPhone plan.

I am going to shop around for the best deal that suits me. If it does not suit you then ok but don’t assume that everyone needs 6GB of data at any price. I have Optik at home so I don’t need data when I’m at home and I can go into a Starbucks when I’m downtown for data. I could live on 100 MB per month if it meant that I could get my total bill below 50 bucks per month.

  • Ari

Even the lightest user? Really? Have you looked at the Onavo? If someone just does email and a little bit of Facebook, they could keep under 100MB per month and actually “save” money. They seem to be giving more choices than say Fido (my current carrier) where I had 30 6GB data but that was all it included and I had to pay for texting and call display on top of that as well as 30 bucks for voice. I got it whittled down to 25 bucks for 500MB + 25 for voice but I am shopping around for a better package deal. Wifi is available all over the place.

So you didn’t like paying an extra five dollars for an additional 5.5GB? seems silly to me … SMS and MMS? With 6GB you can get whatsapp and email! … But at any extant call Fido retentions if you’re so unhappy with your plan … In the grand scheme of things these data plans suck.

Right  and then I would still end up paying more per month with just more data which I don’t use anyway. You don’t get it do you? I am shopping around for a new carrier. Fido only unlocks iPhones after you have finished your contract whereas other carriers will unlock even when you are still on contract after 3 months into your contract. Fido is one of the worst carriers out there for extra fees.

I paid the fee to unlock a iPhone 3GS that I bought off contract and they were not even going to unlock it for a fee initially because I got an iPhone 3G when I signed up for my contract.

Having 6GB of data is a false economy if you never use that much data and you have to pay for texts and caller ID on top of that and you can get a bundle with less data but other features bundled in for 2/3 the price of just data.

A retention plan is useless for someone looking for another carrier.

Your logic shows how much you know about reading comprehension. I was one of the pioneers fighting for unlocked phones and the right to unlock off contract phones which you all now enjoy. I contacted Fido and the CRTC even when the naysayers said it was pointless and that unlocking would never happen in Canada. I had gotten as far as receiving a phone call from the office of the president of FIdo probably because they were getting some heat from the CRTC after my emails sent to them trying to get me to give up my cause.

A retention plan will not save me money when you add up all of the features like texts, caller ID and a voice plan. I do not want to stay with FIDO. Got it? They have a worse unlocking policy where they will only unlock “AFTER’ your contract expires for a 50 dollar fee even if you bought the iPhone off contract.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? If you are such a heavy user, comparison shop for a carrier that suits you best. You have choices so exercise that choice.

If you are only doing email when on 3G then you can get by with 100MB and save a lot of money per month/year and just use Wifi at Starbucks for data heavy stuff.

6GB usually costs around 30 bucks on other carriers and that does not include any other features like call display and texts. 10 bucks less and other features included sounds like a better deal if you don’t use a lot of data per month.

Do you work for Rogers or something? It seems that way if you want people to over pay for data + this feature + that feature + another feature + random fee + tax.

Robbers and Fido suck. I have been a customer of both but I’m currently on Fido.

Hahaha WOW this seems to be a touchy subject … If you HATE Fido so much then find another carrier but we all know that Belus is the exact same way … Same with their little companies … So go to a new guy but don’t forget their coverage isn’t the greatest yet and their network is a bit dodgy.

I personally do not like Rogers but when I was about to cancel they gave me a great Retentions plan that I could not get from any other carrier … Thus I stayed. I also have the 6GB plan and use anywhere from 2 – 3GB a month … So it’s good for me.

These plans here just work into the ultimate plan of all the carriers … Charge more for less … They keep reducing the amount we get but maintain or increase their fees … So you asked me if I work for Rogers no; I think the more appropriate question is do you work for Telus?

You work for them don’t you. Admit it. Retention plans mean absolutely nothing to people who are sick of their unlock policies and their extra mystery fees. Some people like to travel so riddle me this, how is a customer supposed to get their phone unlocked officially on Fido or Rogers BEFORE their contract is up? The answer is you can’t. You cannot travel to Japan and use their rental sims or travel to Europe and pop in a local SIM unless if you either jailbreak and unlock (assuming you even can) or buy the iPhone directly from Apple at full price.

    Stop astro turfing for Robbers.

You obviously have a learning disability that limits your reading comprehension capacity. Unlocking it “yourself” leaves you with a tethered jailbreak at worst assuming the new iPhone 5 can be jailbroken or stuck a version behind/features disabled at best. With iOS 5 having OTA updates, jail breaking and keeping it jailbroken might be difficult.

Boy you certainly have a lot to complain about. My only complaint is that you seem unable to have a mature debate without resorting to name calling.

This marks my finally message on this matter as I have little time to have any further immature remarks land in my inbox.

    Cheers!
