Videotron has launched Chillico, its new Facebook Messenger chatbot, to help recommend selections from the company’s illico.tv on-demand catalogue. The company says they are the first Canadian telecommunications provider to offer a chatbot from Messenger.
“Chillico is our first experiment with chatbots,” said Julie Brault, Vice President, Branding & Ominchannel Digital Strategy, in a statement. “It will give us more information about how our customers interact with this type of innovative service. In the long term, we expect to learn how we can permanently incorporate bots into our customer service toolkit.”
The Chillico Facebook Messenger chatbot will ask users multiple choice questions to come up with viewing recommendations, inquiring about a user’s preference of genre, areas of interest, age and more. Once information is provided, the chatbot will suggest a title from the illico.tv catalogue.
