WIND Mobile Adds Data Sharing Option; Reduces WINDTab Subsidy

WIND Mobile has a very attractive new offer: For $9 per month, you can have an optional “Data Share” add-on, allowing you to share the data included in your smartphone plan with other devices with a SIM-card slot.

While other carriers may limit a similar add-on to tablets only, this neat share data option allows WIND Mobile customers to share data with any accompanying device, which could be your child’s phone, tablet, or laptop.

What you need to do is purchase additional SIM cards, connect them to your smartphone’s data plan, and you are good to go.

In another bold move, WIND Mobile has reduced its WINDTab subsidy from $150 to $100. By doing so, WIND aims to ride the rising bring-your-own-device (BYOD) trend and expose the real cost of the phone while freezing the price of the monthly plan instead of increasing it (since you are paying the phone’s subsidy in 24 equal monthly instalments).

“We have seen the Bring Your Own Device trend increasing and as a response we slightly updated our WINDtab levels in order to continue offering the best possible value for our services, and ensure our pricing remains more attractive than our competitors,” the carrier said in an email statement sent to MobileSyrup.
