WIND Mobile Promo: 1 Month Free for New Mobilicity/Public Mobile Switchers

WIND Mobile has a new promo coming on May 1 which aims to lure over customers from rival newer entrants Mobilicity (going broke) and Public Mobile (just got bought out by TELUS).

According to the RedFlagDeals forums, the following promo beginning in May will offer switchers their first month free. If these Mobilicity/Public Mobile switchers bring their unlocked AWS device (such as an iPhone), they will get a free WIND Mobile SIM card, worth $25:

Beginning Thursday May 1st, 2014…NEW Clients who sign up and activates for ANY WIND MOBILE plan and port in their Mobilicity OR Public Mobile number (at the time of activation) will receive their monthly plan fee for free. AND If you bring your unlocked AWS Compatible device to WIND, you will receive the $25 SIM CARD for free.

The timing of this offer begins as Public Mobile 220,000 customers switch over to their new Telus 4G network in May. This move by Telus requires all Public Mobile users to purchase new compatible phones, which as you can imagine has left some customers disgruntled. I’m sure WIND Mobile is targeting these switchers in this latest promo.

As for Mobilicity, earlier this month they accepted a $350 million takeover offer from Telus, the latter’s third attempt to acquire the new carrier. Just last week Ottawa was rumoured to be pressuring Telus to drop their Mobilicity bid. The latter only has enough cash to stay afloat for a couple more months, so this WIND promo debuts at an opportune time to generate some leads.

Let us know if you’re an existing Mobilicity or Public Mobile user ready to switch over to WIND Mobile. The recent $39 Unlimited Spring Promo with U.S. roaming is eligible as part of this offer.
