As reported earlier this week, this morning Bell has officially dropped their $6.95 system access fee and 911 fee, whose rate varies between the Canadian provinces (Quebec will still pay the upcoming $0.40 911 fee for their province only).
As originally reported, the dropped fees came with a $5.00 (and even $10) plan increase, which is exactly the same move made by Telus earlier in November 2009. The only difference … Read More

These two are like brothers fighting over toys.
This morning, Telus filed legal action against Rogers for misleading advertisements claiming that Rogers is “Canada’s fastest network”. Rogers has been running these ads, along with another one whose slogan is “Canada’s fastest network: two times faster than any other” since 2007. We have seen them all over television and billboards, but now Telus says they are false!
As per an internal Bell document, Bell Canada may be dropping the dreaded system access fee effective November 20, 2009. This puts Bell in line with Telus, who just recently dropped their SAF and 911 fee but did increase price plans by $5.00 (still cheaper than with the SAF).
See the Bell announcement below:
Effective November 20th, 2009 Bell Mobility will be launching new pricing for all existing postpaid plans … Read More
As of November 5, 2009, the four major Canadian wireless carriers consisting of Rogers, Fido, Bell, and Telus are all finally running HSPA+ with network speeds of up to 21Mbps.
For a country that is traditionally viewed as behind the technology curve, I feel pretty good about this. Not only do our four main carriers all have HSPA+ with 21Mbps speeds, but they … Read More
Bring on the iPhone “competition” in Canada, eh! Looks like Bell has started airing their own iPhone commercials on TV. The following commercial was aired on G4 Tech TV, and was ripped by the one and only, RoryPiper. This branded iPhone commercial only shows Bell at the end, with no mention of Rogers, Fido, or Telus. Enjoy:

In the USA right now, Verizon Wireless is on a full front assault right now on the iPhone and AT&T. They are pumping millions into a marketing campaign that is exploiting the “weaknesses” of the iPhone, but more importantly the lackluster 3G network of AT&T (oh, and also promoting the Motorola DROID).
