Review: “BatRest” by Seskimo

by Mr. Ex on December 13th, 2008

Hey all!

You may notice that a few of my regular Sunday posts will be showing up during the week, well, that is because iPhoneFan is gone for the remainder of December, which means more posts by X1Zero which in turn means more FREE SWAG! w00t!

Before we begin, congratulations to “Bud Colby” and “SSK13” for being the chosen winners of the Case-Mate cases!

Now on to today!

Today’s post will be a review of a product unlike any other that I have seen for iPhone 3G. It is called the “BatRest”!

“BatRest” by Seskimo

The “BatRest” from Seskimo is the most unique iPhone 3G accessory I have seen yet. It is a great blend of form and function and is very useful in almost all applications of the iPhone 3G. Essentially, the “BatRest” is a folding stand or dock that you can watch videos (or any other media) while in landscape mode. In other words, you lay your iPhone 3G on the “BatRest” in landscape format and use it to watch media on your iPhone!

What I find very attractive and useful about the “BatRest” is how small it is; it fits in your pocket because the whole stand folds for easy storage! It is curved in a way that it supports the iPhone 3G perfectly (or any other flat backed device!) You can put the “BatRest” and your iPhone 3G on practically any surface, whether be it a plane tray table, a desk at home, work, or school or wherever you enjoy watching and/or listening to media from your iPhone 3G. If you need to adjust the viewing angle, just open or close the arms!

The “BatRest” also comes in three different colors; Black, White, and Translucent. This is great as it matches the current iPhone 3G colors (Black/White) and then even adds an extra one for good looks! When I first saw the “BatRest”, I was very excited about using it, and so far, it has become an invaluable travel companion. You just put it into your pocket and go!

The “BatRest” is available for $3.99 USD on Seskimo’s Online Store. However, if you buy $5.00 or more, the shipping is FREE!

I really want you all to try this stand as it is quite a fantastic product. Therefore, I will be giving away three of the “BatRest” in each of the three colors to three lucky winners! (gotta love the Threes!). All you have to do is post below of how YOU will use the “BatRest”! The contest will end on Tuesday December 16, 2008 at 11:59pm PST.

If you have any questions or comments, drop me a line at: x1zero.corner [at] gmail.com

Enjoy!

this is such a cool, yet simple & compact accessory. thanks for the review.

I would use the Batrest next time I'm on a long Air Canada flight. that way when the crappy in-flight entertainment system crashes (again*), I can watch movies and video podcasts on my iPhone, without tiring out my arms for hours.

    * as it always does several times per flight.
(Did you know? the entertainment system on AirCanada is Windows-based. seriously. not that there's anything wrong with that. just sayin')

I'd love to win one of these! It'll give me something to put my iphone on while im watching youtube videos or browsing this site! And it'll just make a small and portable stand for on-the-go videos when you're with a friend or two out and about. Thanks for the awesome review!
  • benjguapo
Hmm... I'll use it to hold/show all the Christmas Cards I'll probably get this Christmas. :)
  • Josh
i am going to be honest i will use the batrest to watch my favorite Girls Gone Wild, since ill have the batrest i will have free hands too
  • Justin
During my lunch hour, I would always use the lunch tray to support viewing on my iPhone but the iPhone would gradually slid down flat and I have to put it upright again and sadly this process would be repeated many times.

So this BatRest will be the perfect solution. It'll be even better if I win it!!!

I'm a weapons tech for the Canadian Forces (Navy) and I'll use mine to prop up my iPhone when I am fixing submarines, listening to music, which will keep it off of dirty surfaces.
  • StOneD
    umm...isnt than unsafe ;) ...
  • iGuy
    LOL not at all!

  • Michael
I could definitely use this at work for watching videos.
  • Bud Colby
What would be the rule about what you can or can't enter after winning in another give away? I would like to enter, but, I would like to know if there is a rule to that effect.

    G'day
  • X1Zero
    Hey Bud,
I mentioned this a few Sundays back, and you can enter all the times you want!!!
  • Mike
How would I use the BatRest? Hmmm, on my desk at home, on my desk at work, on my night table as an alarm clock, on the tray table of planes, on the ferry, and let's not forget the most obvious use for the BatRest... throwing at dangerous criminals.

The black one would be the most intimidating one if you were going to use it to be a crime fighter.
  • Dave Brake
I would use it on my night table for the night stand app.
  • Momin
Hmm. I would use it to rest my iPhone beside my new MacBook! Haha and of course when watching movies!!!
  • Jasper
Why I would like the batrest? To match my Batman theme of course! Of course, the bat-theme won't be without The Dark Knight, as well as the wallpaper of my iPhone, and a UniqueSkins made to show the Batman Logo!
  • Alison
First of all, thank you for the opportunity to win these awesome prizes!
I would use the BatRest Stand for my alarm clock at night using those clock apps on the phone (now I won't have to lean my iPhone against my lamp, hoping it doesn't fall and break), as well as - like you said - plane trips. I travel a lot, and watching movies on the iPhone is really quite uncomfortable! Thanks again for the chance! YOU ROCK!
  • Leonard
The batrest would make watching my iphone easy and convieneint and not needing to use my hands, which makes it perfect for if i plan on being in handcuffs i can still beforehand place it on the batrest and still watch my shows.
  • Myron
This product will be very useful at work. I will use it on my desk to display pics and movies when I need a break. Thanks for the post.
  • Trent
I could use the BatRest stand for reading the awesome reviews on iPhoneincanada.ca while I eat breakfast!
  • Adam
I would use my batrest to craddle my iPhone while I listen to music to help me get through my days at work! lol
  • dreamer
I would balance my iPhone and the batrest on the top of my car seats headrest..... To keep the kids entertained in the back seats.
And I might add some superglue to!
  • D168
I would use the BatRest for general movie viewing, and also for my trip to Vegas in April!
  • Peacock
I would use the batrest for downloaded simpsons episodes and for the clock app so I know what time it is in style! Also I can read iphoneincanada forums while lying down! LOL
  • davee-d
ill use my batrest for holding my blu-ray batman dark knigth disk and for the iphone of course....
thank you for giving us the chance to win prices!!!!
  • Brook
Oooh! I will use my BatRest to hold a large juice box upright (as advertised)! :)
  • X1Zero
    Now, THAT is funny!
