Review: Case-Mate Clear Naked Case & Silicone

Hey all!

Before we begin, congratulations to Rey for being the chosen winner of the Griffin PowerJolt! It was a really hard decision as all of the poems were fantastic, but a choice must be made! Check out “Rey’s” entry below!

Until the day I bought an iPhone
A new world was open to me
It was like being set free
Until my battery quickly died
I was sad, so I sighed
But as quick as a lightning bolt
I pulled out the Griffin PowerJolt
And my iPhone was revived with its bright backlight
All thanks to the iPhoneInCanada website!

Congrats Rey

And now on to today!

Today’s post will be a dual case review of the Case-Mate Clear Naked Case and a dual-colored silicone for the iPhone 3G.

Case-Mate Clear Naked Case

This first case from Case-Mate features an all plastic enclosure that completely encompasses the iPhone 3G. The case allows full access to the touch screen via a electrostatic membrane, large cut-outs for easy access to the iPhone’s controls, and the thick acrylic shell for extra protection.

Since I have never used one of these cases before, I was excited to get to try this one out and I am quite happy with it. Unlike some cases in the past, it is really easy to put your iPhone 3G into this case. It literally just slides in, so easy. After the phone is in, you slide on the click-snap back and you are ready to go. The case does add a little bulk to the iPhone 3G, but it also gives the phone some serious protection. I think it is pretty safe to say that your iPhone 3G would survive a fall with no scratches or damage to the actual phone if in this case. Of course, I would not recommend testing that, but if it were ever to happen, I think this case has you covered.

The Clear Naked case is available for $29.99 on Case-Mate’s online store.

Case-Mate Dual-Colored Silicone Case (Red on Black)

Next we have the Silicone case. Recently as I have had the opportunity to use more and more silicone cases, these types of cases have really grown on me and this silicone from Case-Mate is no exception. The first thing that stands out is the dual-colored design. It is an all black silicone with the red accent and the black/red striped back. The other thing that is nice is the red accent is removable! So if you just want the black case on its own, no problem!

The case gives you full access to the sleep button, headphone jack, dock connector/speakers, and the silent switch. Moreover, it has moulded pieces for the volume rocker and home button. Once the phone is in the case, you get a snug fit and it really makes the iPhone all that much more stylish!

Both Case-Mate cases pictured above will be given away today! To win, sign up at the iPhoneInCanada.ca forums, make 5 meaningful posts (not just a one liner or single word) and email me a link to your user profile. In the email, include which case you want and why you want it! The contest will end on Tuesday December 9, 2008 at 11:59pm PST.

Enjoy!
