Tim Hortons Mobile App Groupon: Save 50% Off as $10 Credit Available for $5

Tim Hortons looks to be pushing its mobile app ordering feature hard, as they have launched a new Groupon which offers a $10 credit for 50% off at $5. It seems to be pretty popular because today has seen over 1,250 Groupons sold (in other news–people still use Groupon?).

The description says “$10 credit must be redeemed using the most current version of the Tim Hortons App on an iOS or Android device. The credit can be used towards any purchase at participating Tim Hortons locations. Use it all at once or across multiple visits.”

The promotional value expires on February 28, 2018 and is valid in Canada only. Users must have the latest Tim Hortons iOS or Android app installed, as a printed voucher will not be accepted.

Tim Hortons launched mobile ordering in Canada this summer, after a lengthy delay. The app supports Apple Pay in-app payments, but not for transactions, only minimum gift card reloads of $10. It system competes against mobile ordering from Starbucks and McDonald’s.

Downloaded the Tim’s app. Bought the Groupon. Groupon forwards me to the app store to download the Tim’s app, even though it’s already installed. Can’t get it to launch the Tim’s app and apply the voucher.

I had the same issue. Tried deleting the app and re-downloading as well but still nothing. Contacted groupon and they said they will investigate it and it could take up to 4-5 days. Ended up cancelling and getting a refund

It worked for me after like 10 tries of deleting the app and the re-setting up by downloading and opening the app both through Groupon’s app. Really awful process, but worth $5 I guess…

I’ve tried numerous times to buy this deal using both ApplePay and credit card. Each time transaction failed. Even tried it from both desktop and iPhone. Nada…epic failure!

It must be one of my lucky days. The whole process worked just fine, without any reinstalling of the Tim Hortons app. My $10 credit is now in my balance!
