StealthSIM Users: How to Update from 1.1.2 to 1.1.4

Remember the days of owning a brand new OTB 1.1.2 iPhone and having no solution to unlock? Well, along came the torrent of “SIM” solutions, with one of the biggest ones being the StealthSIM. Well, I know a lot of people out there are still using their “SIM” solutions and are still on 1.1.2. Ladies and gentlement, your time has come to update! I’ve received a few emails as of late regarding this, so I am going to address it here.

How to Update to 1.1.4 Using your StealthSIM – Unlock, Activate, and Jailbreak

Step 1: Pop out your SIM tray carefully and remove your “SIM” solution. Yes, I know you paid $99 for it–frame it and store it away for later. It’s a collector’s item now!

Step 2: Plug in your iPhone and sync it in iTunes. After syncing, RESTORE to 1.1.4.

Step 3: Download ZiPhone and click “Do it all”…within minutes you will have an unlocked, activated, and jailbreaked iPhone on 1.1.4! Goodbye StealthSIM!

This is the Cliff Notes version of how to do this. Basically after you pop out your SIM card, you can just follow my video on updating from 1.1.1 to 1.1.4 and unlocking with ZiPhone. It doesn’t matter what iPhone firmware you’re on–restoring in iTunes, then using ZiPhone will work. Good luck and happy updating! Let me know how it goes!

personally i would avoid using ziphone, and i would “pwn” my iphone : iphone-dev(dot)org. Why? probably more future-proof, and you don’t have to downgrade bootloader to unlock. But if you really look for an easy one-click solution, i guess iLiberty would be better than ziphone.

Glad to see this post finally come out, it was overdue. I guess Stealth Sim are gone? I notice they aren’t appearing as one of your sponsors anymore…

Come on iPhone Fan! Sponsors are good, but make sure you maintain your objectivity.

so weird – this morning i decided i was going to ditch my stealth sim (because it constantly crapped out), and upgrade using iLiberty:

    http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=847

so i removed my stealth sim, put my rogers sim back in, rebooted the iphone – ready to restore thru itunes to 1.1.4, and i notice the ROGERS carrier in the top left of the screen. i wondered how that could be possible after removing the stealth sim. i made some calls, rebooted – and everything seems to work fine.

so i’m still on 1.1.2, haven’t modded the phone since january. just curious if anyone else is able to simply remove their stealth sim and have their iphone work.

this morning i decided i was going to ditch my stealth sim (because of unreliability), and upgrade using iLiberty:

i made some calls, rebooted, everything – it seems to work fine with just the rogers sim in it. so weird.

i’m on 1.1.2 and haven’t done anything to the phone since january when i bought it and set up the stealth sim.
