Ultrasn0w iPhone 3G Unlock Download Available!

Never eat yellow snow right? Well, if you’re talking about the iPhone 3G, yellowsn0w was the carrier unlock that would allow you to pop in any SIM card on 2.2 firmware.

Just hours ago, the iPhone Dev Team finally released Ultrasn0w, their iPhone 3G carrier unlock for 3.0 firmware! This is exciting news because now you will be able to use your iPhone 3G while traveling and not pay crazy roaming rates. Just pop in a local SIM card and you’ll be a happy camper!

How to Install Ultrasn0w on your iPhone 3G

Here are the brief instructions so far from the iPhone Dev Team (be sure to disable SIM PIN if this applies to you):

1. Ensure you have upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0
2. Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using redsn0w or PwnageTool (this will also install 3. Cydia/Icy)
3. Run Cydia or Icy
4. Please add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or icy
5. Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia or icy and install ultrasn0w
6. Reboot your iPhone 3G
7. Ignore this if you’re on Rogers/Fido (T-Mobile USA users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w)
8. Enjoy

I haven’t tried this yet on my iPhone 3G, but once I do I will be sure to include a more detailed tutorial. I’ve asked my twitter followers about their initial Ultrasn0w experiences and so far they have been very positive!

    Hi, I bought my Iphone in Canada from Roger, and then I came to USA and now using AT&T, I jailbroke my Iphone with redsnow, I added source: repo666.ultrasn0w.com . After that I searched ultras0w and installed it, then reboot my Iphone. But nothing changes, it doesn’t have any signal at all(No service). Can someone help me out? thanks so much

    Hi , can someone pls help me with my 3g phone, my phone was previously jailbroken with yellowsn0w by a friend of mine, now I want to jailbreak the 3.0 firmware, I updated the 3.0 in my phone , but don’t know whether I should use redsnow or pwnagtool . As it is indicted on dave team blog site that not to use redsnow for yrllowsnow jailbroken iPhone . But how can I use pwnagtool software using windows. I don’t have access to mac. Pls pls help

    Anyone else having problem getting the iPhone 3G to jailbreak? It gets stuck on “Waiting for Reboot” and when I manually do it by holding down the power and home bottoms the phone will reboot. But nothing happens and the phone is back to how I started. Its not jailbroken.

    Nothing has been modified and no Cydia application is installed. I tried 10x then gave up.

    I used redsn0w-win_0.7.1

    I am traveling to comox on Vancouver island in a couple of weeks.
    Have jail broken my iphone 3gs and unlocked.
    Can I Get a pay as you go sim to work up there with data service as well!

    I have a iphone 3G purchased last summer. When yellowsn0w came out at the beginning of this year, I jailbroke and unlocked it. I was in HongKong at the time and it worked great. Now, I”m back in Toronto using Rogers simcard and will be going to HongKong again soon. I am thinking about updating it to ultrasn0w, but if it ain't broke, why fix it? Has anyone used a Canadian iphone3G with ultrasn0w in HongKong yet? Your comments and assistance is greatly appreciated.
