Apple May Debut 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2 with A10x Next Week: Rumour

While everyone is expecting Apple to hold some sort of March media event to unveil new iPads (and possible new iPhone colour options), Japanese site Mac Otakara claims a new 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2 could debut, instead of a 10.5-inch iPad Pro.

According to unnamed Japanese analysts and Apple’s Chinese supply chain, next week may introduce a refreshed iPad Pro 2 with an A10x chip upgrade, while retaining the same specs as before.

Previously, MacRumors claimed new Apple products would debut next week, while Digitimes reported yesterday the rumoured 10.5-inch iPad Pro would debut in April.

Mac Otakara says no media event is planned, so the 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2 refresh could come in the form of a press release.

During last fall’s September event, Apple quietly updated their iPad lineup with increased base storage from 16GB to 32GB, while dropping the price of the iPad Pro.

Last year, Apple announced its March 21 media event on March 10–offering the media 11 days to plan travel for the special event, which saw the iPhone SE get unveiled, along with the 9.7-inch iPad Pro and new Apple Watch bands.
