I’ve never owned an iPad before… but seriously considering buying one. I don’t know if I should buy the 12″ or the 9″ Pro. I’m thinking the 9 maybe just a bit too small for me.

  • KS

I’d recommend 9, you won’t find it too small believe me.

  • KS

Air 2 starts at $499. Is that revised price or did they just skip price reduction for Canada?

  • Gary Bowen

I’m pretty sure it was CAD$549 beforehand.

  • KS

Thank you. (Alas the exchange rates!)

the only thing i’d want from the pro is the pencil. and that makes it a $430 higher starting price than the air 2. so by that metric the air 2 is a pretty decent value now.

  • KS

My thoughts exactly. If one doesn’t want to/is never going to use the pencil and the smart keyboard, one should seriously consider Air 2 over the Pro. (Better camera shouldn’t be considered a point of comparison, for it’s clumsy to take pictures with an iPad in the first place.)

You know what is even better? the Mini 4! Well, they didn’t change the price due to exchange and it is currently sitting at about 10% difference between the US prices.

So if you can handle the smaller screen, then you have the guts of the Air2 but in a smaller package and for a smaller price.

Oh and the 128 GB option is no longer available in the Air2, but still available in the Mini4.

I recommend the 12.9. You won’t find it too large. The split screen will make you a believer.

  • Wall Man

I would second that, the 9.7 size is big enough. I’ve played with the 12.9 Pro and it is just too big for what I would ever use.

If you are set on a Pro, then go for the 128 GB version. It is sad they didn’t put in a 64GB size. But 32 GB would probably be fine now, but you may run out of space in the future.

These iPads will last a long time. I’m still playing around with an old iPad 2 and it does Youtube just fine.

You could save a lot and look at the Air 2. Big price difference and if you decide you really like the iPad, then you can upgrade later.
