New iPad mini ‘Pro’ and 10.1-Inch iPad Pro Coming in 2017: Rumour

Will Apple’s entire lineup next year see a “Pro” version of iPads? That appears to be the case, if unnamed sources speaking to Japanese site Mac Otakara are to believed (the site has been credible in the past nailing new iPhone 7 colours and stereo speakers).

According to “well-placed sources”, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro refresh will bring upgrades the 9.7-inch iPad Pro gained first, such as a 12MP iSight camera with True Tone flash, plus True Tone display, which shows a wider colour gamut, automatically adjusting colour and intensity through four ambient light sensors.

The source also claims the iPad mini 4 will become the new 7.9-inch iPad Pro, along with Smart Connector, four speakers, 12MP iSight camera with True Tone flash, plus True Tone display.

As for the existing 9.7-inch iPad Pro it will become the 10.1-inch iPad Pro, gaining 1cm in length and 0.5mm in width, while gaining a new quad-microphone setup.

Earlier this year, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed a 10.5-inch iPad Pro was coming next year, utilizing an A10x processor.

These new iPad Pros will still retain their 3.5mm headphone jacks, unlike the recent iPhone 7, and are slated to ship in the spring of 2017.
